Injury Prevention for Active Adults in Richmond VA

Train Smarter and Stay Ahead of Injuries

Proactive injury prevention for active adults who want to address weak links before they become problems. We help you build resilience, move better, and train with confidence knowing your body can handle what you throw at it.

What Happens When You Ignore the Warning Signs

Small Issues Turn Into Bigger Problems

That tight hip or weak glute you've been ignoring? It's only a matter of time before it forces you to stop training completely.

You're Always One Step Away From Injury

You feel good now, but you know something's off. You're waiting for the other shoe to drop instead of training with confidence.

What Active Adults Are Saying About Physical Therapy at Grit

Dr Gabby fixed my nagging neck pain I was dealing with for months with sleeping and any overhead weight lifting. 1 session of dry needling and her working on my neck/shoulder, I felt 100x better. I highly recommend Dr. Gabby and Grit PT for any sports rehab or PT need!
Ben Welch
As a Division 1 athlete at the University of Richmond, Dr Gabby was introduced to me at a critical point in my season and rehab and she exceeded all expectations I could have ever had. I immediately felt relief and saw progress with an injury I had been dealing with for 6 months and she is without a doubt the reason I was healthy enough to finish my season! Could not recommend Dr Gabby and Grit more!
Charlotte Edwards
Gabby is the best, most thoughtful & personable PT out there! She guided me through getting rid of daily back pain that was affecting my work and personal lives. She is professional and knowledgeable, offering both manual and exercise-based therapy depending on your needs. Seriously, look no further, gabby is a gift to those in need of physical therapy.
Kara Lehman
Dr. Gabby is professional and experienced! She took the time to listen to what I had going on and gave me a ton of actionable items and exercises to work on. Would definitely recommend!
Benjamin Klingelhofer
I’ve worked with Dr. Colin twice now, and each time he has taken time to listen, plan and adapt based on what I want and what I’m feeling. He’s very clear, straightforward and caring, while bringing a wealth of knowledge. I had a very old injury that flared up while working out, and now I’m back in the gym with no pain only a month later.
Kayla Brooks
Highly recommend Gabby. She’s the best. Between the manual therapy and the exercises, she got my shoulder back to feeling strong after years of avoiding certain lifts. She’s great at spotting the subtle bad habits in your form and helping you fix them. Identifying and correcting the little things made a huge impact. Can’t say enough good things.

Common Questions About Injury Prevention at Grit

Here are answers to the questions we hear most often from active adults considering injury prevention services at Grit PT & Performance.

Do I need to be hurt to work with you?

No. Injury prevention is for people who feel good but want to stay that way. If you have a history of injuries or know you have weak areas, this is the right time to address them. For example, athletes at high risk can work with us proactively before they ever need sports physical therapy or ACL rehab in the first place.

How is this different from a personal trainer?

We combine PT expertise with strength and conditioning knowledge. We assess movement quality, identify injury risks, and design programs that make you more resilient—not just stronger.

How many sessions will I need?

Most people benefit from 3-5 sessions to get a full assessment, build a customized program, and learn how to progress it on their own. Some athletes check in periodically throughout their season.

Can you work around my current training schedule?

Absolutely. We design programs that complement what you're already doing in the gym or on the road. We're not here to add hours to your week—just make your training smarter.

What should I bring to my first session?

Wear your normal training gear and bring any recent training logs or race schedules if you have them. Be ready to move and talk about your goals and training history.
