Post-Operative Rehab in Richmond, VA

Come Back Stronger After Surgery

Post-surgical rehab designed for active adults who want more than just "cleared to return." We help you rebuild strength, regain confidence, and get back to training knowing your body can handle the demands of your sport.

What Happens When Rehab Falls Short

You Clear PT But Don't Feel Ready

Your surgeon clears you, but deep down you know you're not as strong or confident as you were before. You hold back in training because you don't trust your body yet.

Reinjury Becomes a Real Fear

Every movement feels like a test. You avoid cutting, jumping, or loading the joint fully because you're afraid of undoing all the progress you've made.

Your Timeline Drags On

Generic protocols and shared PT sessions slow your recovery. You're stuck doing the same exercises for weeks without real progression toward your sport.

Why Athletes Trust Grit

Post-Op Rehab Built for Serious Athletes

We don't just check boxes on a surgical protocol. Our Doctors of Physical Therapy use advanced testing, progressive loading, and sport-specific training to help you return stronger, faster, and more confident than before.

Protocol-Based, Performance-Driven

We follow your surgeon's timeline but layer in strength training, movement quality, and return-to-sport prep that goes beyond basic rehab.

Objective Testing at Every Phase

Force plates, strength baselines, and movement screens guide every decision so you progress based on data, not guesswork.

One-on-One Every Visit

A full hour with your PT—no splitting time or attention. We track your progress closely and adjust your plan as you hit each milestone.

Sport-Specific Return Phases

Whether you're getting back to running, lifting, throwing, or cutting, we simulate those demands progressively so you're truly ready.

Gabby is a knowledgeable, dedicated, and compassionate therapist. She worked closely with me for 6 weeks, and always knew when to push and when to pull back. I went from barely being able to bend over to tie my shoes due to back pain to moving around freely and lifting weights again thanks to her patient and skilled approach. I'm very grateful for her dedication. Somehow she also makes the PT sessions fun too - highly recommend!

Common Questions About Post-Operative Rehab at Grit

Here are answers to the questions we hear most often from athletes recovering from surgery.

Do I need a referral to start physical therapy?

No. Virginia allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can schedule an evaluation without a doctor's referral. We'll coordinate with your physician if needed.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your injury and goals, but most active adults see significant progress within 6-8 sessions. We'll give you a clear plan during your evaluation.

Will you make me stop training?

Not unless absolutely necessary. Our goal is to modify your training so you can stay active while you recover. We work with your schedule and your sport.

What does out-of-network mean for me?

You'll pay a flat rate at each session, and we'll provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. No surprise bills, no pre-authorization delays.

What should I bring to my first session?

Wear comfortable athletic clothing you can move in. Bring any recent imaging or reports if you have them, and be ready to talk about your training and goals.
