Pelvic Health Physical Therapy in Richmond, VA

YOUR BODY CHANGED. IT DESERVES CARE THAT KEEPS UP.

Pelvic health physical therapy for Richmond women dealing with the pain, pressure, and dysfunction that get in the way of workouts, daily life, and the things they want to do. We find the root cause, build a plan around your body and your goals, and get you back to full capacity — one-on-one with a DPT every session.

What Happens When Pelvic Health Goes Unaddressed

You Adapt Around Symptoms Instead of Resolving Them

Leaking during a run, pressure during a workout, or pain that keeps you from full effort — you adjust and push through, but none of it clears without addressing what's actually driving it.

Returning to Exercise Stays Frustrating and Guarded

You want to get back to lifting, running, or training, but symptoms make every session feel uncertain. Without a clear plan rooted in your body's mechanics, confidence and capacity stay limited.

The Recovery Window Keeps Getting Longer

The earlier pelvic dysfunction gets addressed, the better the outcomes. Every week without targeted care is another week of compensation, guarding, and distance from the activity and life you want back.

Why Richmond Women Choose Grit for Pelvic PT

Pelvic Health Care That Takes the Whole Picture

Pelvic health PT at Grit goes beyond symptom management. You'll work one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy who evaluates your movement, core mechanics, strength, and pelvic function to find what's driving your symptoms — then builds a plan to address it at the source and support your return to full activity.

Root Cause Assessment First

Your evaluation looks at how your whole body moves — not just your pelvis in isolation. We assess core function, movement mechanics, and contributing factors to build a plan that treats the source, not just the symptoms.

Prenatal and Postpartum Expertise

Whether you are pregnant, newly postpartum, or returning to training months after delivery, your care is built around where your body is right now — and where you want to take it.

One-on-One With Your DPT

A full hour with your physical therapist every session. No aides, no shared time, no handoffs. Private, focused care from your first evaluation through your return to the activities that matter to you.

Out-of-Network on Your Terms

Pay a flat rate, skip the insurance runaround, and get a superbill for potential reimbursement. No surprise bills, no authorization delays.

Common Questions About Pelvic Health Physical Therapy at Grit

Here are answers to the questions we hear most from people in Richmond considering pelvic health physical therapy at Grit PT.

Do I need a referral for pelvic health physical therapy?

No. Virginia allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can schedule your evaluation at Grit without a physician's referral. If you are working with an OB, midwife, or specialist, we are happy to coordinate with your care team to keep everything aligned.

What does a pelvic health PT evaluation look like?

Your first visit includes a full intake covering your history, symptoms, and goals, followed by a movement and strength assessment. Internal pelvic floor assessment is available and discussed in advance — it is never required and always your choice. We give you a full picture of what is contributing to your symptoms and a clear plan from day one.

How soon after delivery can I start pelvic health PT?

Many people start pelvic health PT within 6 to 8 weeks after delivery, though we can often see patients earlier for education, breathing, and light movement work. The sooner you start, the better the foundation for returning to full activity — whether that means daily life, fitness, or sport.

Can pelvic health PT help me return to running or lifting?

Yes. Return to exercise is one of the most common goals we work toward in pelvic health PT. We build a structured progression based on your strength, core function, and symptom response so you can get back to training with confidence — not just guesswork and hoping for the best.

Is pelvic health PT covered by insurance?

Grit PT is out-of-network with all insurance providers. You pay a flat rate per session and we provide a superbill you can submit for potential reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. We cannot guarantee reimbursement, but many patients recover a portion of their costs.
