What Happens When Pelvic Health Goes Unaddressed
You Adapt Around Symptoms Instead of Resolving Them
Leaking during a run, pressure during a workout, or pain that makes certain movements impossible — these symptoms affect performance and quality of life, and they're treatable.
Returning to Exercise Stays Frustrating and Guarded
You want to get back to lifting, running, or training, but pelvic dysfunction keeps limiting what you can do. Without proper treatment, the symptoms don't resolve on their own.
The Recovery Window Keeps Getting Longer
The earlier pelvic dysfunction gets addressed, the better the outcome. Waiting allows compensations to develop and makes the underlying issues harder to fix.
Pelvic Health Care That Takes the Whole Picture
Pelvic health PT at Grit goes beyond symptom management. You'll work one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy who evaluates your movement, core mechanics, strength, and pelvic function to find what's driving your symptoms — then builds a plan to address it at the source and support your return to full activity.
Root Cause Assessment First
Your evaluation looks at how your whole body moves — not just the pelvic floor in isolation — so we can identify the root cause of your symptoms.
Prenatal and Postpartum Expertise
Whether you are pregnant, newly postpartum, or returning to sport years later, your plan is built around your body's current needs and your training goals.

Common Questions About Pelvic Health Physical Therapy at Grit
Here are answers to the questions we hear most from people in Richmond considering pelvic health physical therapy at Grit PT.
No. Virginia allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can schedule your evaluation at Grit without a physician's referral. If you are working with an OB, midwife, or specialist, we are happy to coordinate with your care team to keep everything aligned.
Your first visit includes a full intake covering your history, symptoms, and goals, followed by a movement and strength assessment. Internal pelvic floor assessment is available and discussed in advance — it is never required and always your choice. We give you a full picture of what is contributing to your symptoms and a clear plan from day one.
Many people start pelvic health PT within 6 to 8 weeks after delivery, though we can often see patients earlier for education, breathing, and light movement work. The sooner you start, the better the foundation for returning to full activity — whether that means daily life, fitness, or sport. We also offer dedicated postpartum PT near North Chesterfield.
Yes. Return to exercise is one of the most common goals we work toward in pelvic health PT. We build a structured progression based on your strength, core function, and symptom response so you can get back to training with confidence — not just guesswork and hoping for the best.
Grit PT is out-of-network with all insurance providers. You pay a flat rate per session and we provide a superbill you can submit for potential reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. We cannot guarantee reimbursement, but many patients recover a portion of their costs.
